DCW's NL12 suspension lamp, designed to illuminate a large dining table, is an example of sophisticated design and optical engineering. Its structure, composed of twelve borosilicate glass tubes, cleverly exploits the phenomenon of refraction to distribute light evenly and create a deceptive visual effect.
Despite the apparent complexity of the system, only one of the twelve tubes actually acts as a central light source. The light emitted by this tube is diffused to the other tubes through a clever combination of refraction and the prism effect. This mechanism creates the illusion that all tubes are light sources, deceiving the observer and filling the room with a uniform, soft light, perfect for a convivial atmosphere around the dining table.
The use of borosilicate glass, known for its high thermal resistance and transparency, allows the lamp to manage light optimally, while offering a minimalist and modern aesthetic.
