DCW's In The Air suspension lamp by Douglas Mont stands out as a creation that fuses retro futuristic design elements with references to classic science fiction, evoking visions of UFOs and floating space stations. The design, inspired by flying saucers and the atmospheres of B-movies and vintage comic books, evokes a nostalgic aesthetic but with a modern twist. Its lights, arranged in groups of three or six, are reminiscent of alien aircraft in formation, with a biomorphic, levitating appearance. The metal rings supporting them do not seem to anchor them, rather they leave them suspended like mysterious objects floating in space. This almost magical balance recalls the Italian totemic lights of the 1960s, with a profiled shape that suggests lightness and movement. The chandelier changes in size and presence depending on the number of lights, but without ever losing its visual identity, always remaining an intriguing and spatial object, capable of transforming the environment with its soft, opalescent light.
