DCW In The Air suspension lamp

In The Air by DCW is a suspension lamp designed by Douglas Mont, a sculptural object that blends retro-futuristic aesthetics with references to classic science fiction into a visually striking form. The structure is crafted in steel with semi-opaque white glass diffusers, arranged in configurations of three or six elements, suspended from metal rings that convey an almost magical sense of levitation. The result is a chandelier evoking visions of unidentified flying objects and space stations, with a biomorphic silhouette capable of commanding attention in any space.

In The Air is perfectly suited to characterful interiors where design takes centre stage. The light emitted is diffused and opalescent, creating an enveloping and sophisticated atmosphere, ideal for the living room as well as contract spaces such as restaurants, hotels and galleries. The lamp is dimmable and compatible with LED light sources (bulb not included; recommended: E27 LED filament 4W WL FROST at 2700K, 380 lm), offering flexible control over light intensity. The black fabric cable and Ø 160 mm canopy complete the installation with aesthetic care down to the last detail. The universal voltage 100–240 V makes it compatible with electrical systems worldwide, while insulation class II and a protection rating of IP20 define its use in indoor environments. The maximum installation height is 3000 mm.

Version 3 features three diffusers, with a total diameter of Ø 971 mm and a net weight of 7.5 kg, offering a scenic yet contained presence. Version 6, with six diffusers arranged in formation, reaches a diameter of Ø 1062 mm and a net weight of 24 kg, transforming the ceiling into a true luminous installation. In both configurations, the maximum power per light source is 23 W. While differing in scale and visual impact, the two versions share the same aesthetic identity: a suspended balance between lightness and materiality, between nostalgia and contemporaneity, recalling the totemic icons of Italian lighting from the 1960s reinterpreted with a thoroughly modern sensibility.
