Danese Milano Window Garden Pendant planter system

Designed by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) in 2016, Window Garden Pendant is a suspended system for hydroponic cultivation that allows plants to grow vertically within interior spaces. The project transforms the idea of the domestic window garden into a modular structure composed of porcelain vases aligned along thin steel cables.

Each vase contains a specially designed internal section that supports hydroponic cultivation, enabling plants to grow without soil while receiving water and nutrients through a shared irrigation system. A small groove along the rim of each vase allows the steel cable to pass through and secure the containers to the suspended structure.

The porcelain vases are produced by Rosenthal and combine technical precision with a clean and minimal aesthetic. The system is available in two configurations: a suspended structure with four vases or a version with five vases, allowing different vertical compositions depending on the space. A separate water reservoir supplies the irrigation system and can feed multiple vases simultaneously.

A single reservoir feeds up to a maximum of 8 vases.
