The Alphabet is a silkscreen print by Danese Milano, designed by BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group in 2019 and part of the Danese Milano Art Editions collection. The graphic work takes a pangram as its visual subject — a sentence containing every letter of the alphabet: "Quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" becomes the starting point for a typographic and educational exploration, where language is transformed into form and composition. The technique employed is screen printing on handmade Hahnemühle paper 300 g/m², ensuring a result of high artistic quality built to endure.
The letters are constructed using a grid and a linear structure inspired by a "light source," revealing the geometric logic behind the font and making the design process itself visible. This expository system transforms typography into a visual learning tool, inviting the observer to read form as well as meaning. The project engages with the historical legacy of Danese Milano, echoing the iconic graphic works of Enzo Mari and the educational experimentation of Bruno Munari, both central figures in the brand's visual culture. At 500 × 700 mm, The Alphabet enhances both domestic and professional spaces, from the living room to the office, as a work of art that bridges contemporary graphic research with educational visual culture.
