Danese Milano The Alphabet silkscreen printing

Designed by Big (Bjarke Ingels Group) in 2019, The Alphabet is a graphic work based on a pangram, a sentence that uses all the letters of the alphabet. The phrase “Quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” becomes the visual subject of the composition, transforming language into a typographic and educational exploration.

The letters are constructed using a grid and a linear structure inspired by a “light source,” revealing the geometric logic behind the font. This graphic system exposes the underlying structure of the alphabet, making the design process visible and transforming typography into a visual learning tool.

The project reflects on the relationship between language, form, and communication, linking contemporary graphic research with the historical legacy of Danese Milano. In particular, it echoes the iconic graphic works of Enzo Mari and the educational experimentation of Bruno Munari, both central figures in the cultural history of the brand.

The Alphabet belongs to the Danese Milano Art Editions collection and represents a contemporary interpretation of the tradition of graphic design and educational visual culture.
