Danese Milano 16 Animals is a solid oak wood puzzle designed by Enzo Mari in 1957 for Danese Milano, and one of the most celebrated examples of educational design of the twentieth century. From a single rectangular board — 380 mm wide and 55 mm high — sixteen animal silhouettes are cut using a single continuous line, each piece fitting perfectly back into the parent structure with no waste and no additional elements. The constructive simplicity is a direct expression of the formal rigour that defines Mari's entire design philosophy: every shape emerges from the material itself, stripped of any ornament, restoring wood to its full dignity.

Each silhouette can be freely removed and arranged in space, turning the game into a creative, tactile and narrative experience suited to both children and adults.
