Cappellini Revolving Cabinet chest of drawers

Revolving Cabinet is the sculptural chest of drawers by Cappellini, designed by Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata. It is made of glossy red acrylic, with 20 drawers that rotate around a vertical metal support.

The glossy red acrylic surface gives the piece an almost luminous quality, and at W 36 × D 25 × H 185 cm it rises vertically like a sculpture to live with. The twenty drawers rotate independently around the central axis, composing different configurations depending on use and available space. The design is by Shiro Kuramata, who founded the Kuramata Design Office in Tokyo in 1965, active until 1991: a career that produced numerous projects now regarded as landmarks in design history.
