Cappellini Proust Geometrica armchair

The Progetti Compiuti collection by Cappellini presents the Proust Geometrica armchair, a technicolor evolution of the icon designed in 1978 by Alessandro Mendini for Ferrara's Palazzo dei Diamanti.

The fixed upholstery, crafted from a bold multicolour fabric designed by Mendini himself, wraps the frame in vivid, contrasting fields of colour, hand-finished in keeping with Cappellini's tradition. Measuring W 105 × D 93 × H 109 cm, the armchair retains the generous, enveloping proportions of the original model, built for comfort without giving up the formal precision that turned Proust into a design cult object. Alessandro Mendini, a Milan-based architect and designer, devotes his research to furniture, environments, architecture and installations, and brings that sensibility here in a synthesis of function and aesthetic research.
