Artemide Flexia Flexible Sound Absorbing Suspension Lamp

Flexia was born between Artemide's lighting knowledge and Mario Cucinella's experience in sustainable design, whose work pursues a constant attention to sustainability. It is inspired by papiroflexia, a Japanese technique used to fold origami papyrus. Flexia is divided into two sections: The section of the acoustic panel controls the reverberation by absorbing the sound waves reflected in the environment, while the patented technology born from Ernesto Gismondi's research on the quality of the light that animates the transparent emitting surface, generates a diffused emission of uniform and comfortable light, which complies with UGR standards for application in work spaces.

Flexia's flexible wings are equipped with a rotation mechanism from 0° to 15° to 30°, and the possible inclinations and positions help to calibrate the interaction with the environment. This is accompanied by a careful choice of materials; the sound-absorbing part is made with recycled fibers, the outer fabric comes 100% from PET bottles while the inner panel comes from waste materials. Flexia has been designed to improve the quality of environments, generating an efficient combination for every lighting need. The combination of several modules can compose landscapes based on perfectly measured principles of light and sound.

Flexia is the winner of the Archiproducts Design Awards 2021. Furthermore, a dedicated jury of specialists in eco-design and sustainability awarded Flexia with the "2021 Special Mention for Sustainability".
