Artemide Callimaco floor lamp

Callimaco by Artemide is an iconic LED floor lamp designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1982, now a timeless classic of Italian design. Its name pays homage to Callimachus of Cyrene, an ancient Greek philologist renowned for the meticulous formal refinement of his poetry — a quality Sottsass sought to embody in every detail of this piece. The structure features a conical base in grey lacquered steel, a conical diffuser in red lacquered steel, and a stem in yellow lacquered aluminium with a chrome handle: a bold, immediately recognisable chromatic composition that gives the lamp its Multicolor finish. Callimaco is part of the permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, testament to its enduring historical and cultural significance.

The Callimaco LED version updates the original design with an integrated LED source rated at 45 W, delivering a luminous flux of 3225 lm at a colour temperature of 2700 K for a warm white light that is deeply enveloping and perfectly suited to relaxation. The emission is entirely indirect, directed upwards to create a soft, diffused atmosphere ideal for refined residential interiors. A switch-dimmer on the stem allows effortless adjustment of light intensity, while the integrated driver supports input voltages from 100 to 240 V, making the lamp suitable for use worldwide. With a CRI 90 colour rendering index, colours in the environment are reproduced with accuracy and naturalness. The IP20 rating designates it exclusively for indoor use. Standing 2000 mm tall with a base diameter of 390 mm, Callimaco makes a striking statement in the living room, while its elegance translates equally well to the bedroom or any space where design takes centre stage.
