Montanara by Meritalia, designed by Gaetano Pesce, is a modular sofa with a sculptural form evoking a snow-covered mountain landscape, turning an everyday seating system into a striking work of design. Shaped polyurethane padding and printed cotton upholstery create a distinctive piece that blends comfort, artistic expression and experimental design research.

With Montanara, Gaetano Pesce reverses the relationship between interior and exterior spaces by recreating mountains, waterfalls, rocks and trees within a sofa. The project creates an imaginary domestic landscape, where furniture becomes both functional seating and a conversation piece. It is one of the most representative expressions of the Italian designer's experimental vision, perfectly suited to a contemporary living room and to interiors devoted to expressive, research-driven design.

Montanara consists of two independent modules that can be used separately or combined into different layouts, allowing the sofa to adapt naturally to a variety of residential contexts. It is available in different configurations, sizes and finishes according to the official Meritalia collection. The Montanara Sofa measures 282 × 94 × 110 cm and weighs 135 kg, the Montanara Seat measures 164 × 94 × 106 cm at 49 kg, and the Montanara Armchair measures 163 × 94 × 110 cm at 86 kg.

The 2025 Collection also includes an exclusive Limited Edition consisting of only 9 numbered pieces from 1/9 to 9/9, created for collectors and design enthusiasts. This highly exclusive production further enhances Montanara's collectible value, making each sofa a unique and unrepeatable piece.

The carefully shaped polyurethane backrest provides exceptional comfort while preserving the sculptural identity of the design, and the printed cotton upholstery reinforces its unconventional artistic character.
