Louis Poulsen PH 5 500 Suspension is an iconic pendant lamp designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958, now regarded as a cornerstone of Scandinavian design in the world of lighting. With a diameter of 500 mm, the fixture is crafted from precision-worked aluminum and is based on a sophisticated optical principle: a three-screen reflective system that directs most of the light downwards, eliminating direct glare entirely. The lower screen incorporates a frosted diffuser glass ensuring 100% glare-free downward light, while the pendant simultaneously emits light in a horizontal direction, diffusing a soft, enveloping radiance from within its core.

Thanks to its flawless light quality and timeless formal character, the PH 5 500 adapts naturally to a wide variety of settings: it is ideal above a dining table, in a design-forward living room, or in a contemporary kitchen, where it becomes the visual and luminous centrepiece of the space. The suspension is compatible with an LED light source up to 75W via an E26-E27 lampholder, with a universal input voltage of 100-240 V (compatible with EU, AUS, USA, UK and Japanese standards). The power cord is 3000 mm long, the canopy is included, and the fixture is rated IP20, insulation class II, ungrounded. Overall dimensions are 500 x 267 x 500 mm with a maximum weight of 3.5 kg.

The PH 5 500 is available in an extensive range of finishes to suit every interior design project. The Classic White (with violet details) and Modern White (with brass details) versions feature matt powder coating. Monochrome versions — Black, Blue, White — and the Shades of Blue, Green, Grey, Orange, Red and Pink are matt liquid painted. The metallic versions in polished Brass or Copper combined with white are matt powder coated; please note that copper and brass surfaces are untreated and may develop a natural patina over time. Finishes introduced in 2022 include Monochrome Pale Rose, Monochrome Oyster Grey, and various pastel palettes in Oyster Grey, Light Blue, Pink, Peach and Yellow. In 2024, four new colorways were added: Monochrome Burgundy, Monochrome Dusty Indigo, Monochrome Pale Blush and Monochrome Pale Pewter.
