Driade MT3 rocking chair

MT3 is the monobloc polyethylene rocking chair designed by Ron Arad for Driade. The acronym "MT", from which the entire collection takes its name, is pronounced empty in English: this is precisely the defining element of the line. The volume of the chair is hollowed out, revealing its interior and creating a striking two-tone chromatic effect.

This result is achieved through a double step in rotational plastic production: polyethylene in the colour of the outer shell is first fed into the mould; once this layer has formed, the second colour is inserted and adhered to the first without the two polymers melting during the high-temperature process. A five-axis laser then cuts the side ends, unveiling the characteristic two-tone effect of MT3. Measuring 80 cm in width, 104 cm in depth and 78 cm in height — with a seat height of 42.5 cm — this rocking chair stands out for its sculptural silhouette and material durability, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Its contemporary aesthetic also makes it a distinctive design piece for a sophisticated living room.
