Driade Costes decorative armchair

The Driade Costes decorative armchair is an icon of contemporary design created by Philippe Starck for Driade in 1984, marking the beginning of a historic collaboration and the designer's consecration in Italy. Originally conceived for the legendary Parisian café of the same name, now gone, the Costes armchair owes its timeless appeal to the absolute purity of its form: an enveloping wooden shell supported by three strongly inclined legs that define its unmistakable silhouette. The structure is crafted in black painted tubular steel, while the shell is made from curved plywood available in mahogany, ebonized oak, gray oak, natural ebony or bamboo finishes. The polyurethane foam padding is upholstered with a fixed cover in black or light leather, for a result that is refined and enduring.

With its compact dimensions — height 80 cm, width 47.5 cm and depth 58 cm — the Costes armchair integrates effortlessly into a wide range of residential and contract interiors, from reading corners to reception areas.
