Danese Milano Sicilia cardboard basket

Originally designed by Bruno Munari in 1959 in polished stainless steel, Sicilia cardboard was reinterpreted by the designer in 1978 in a cardboard version. Today this project is re-edited in natural havana corrugated cardboard, protected by a water-resistant surface treatment that enhances durability while preserving its essential character.

Maintaining the iconic hexagonal geometry of the original design, Sicilia cardboard reflects Munari’s interest in experimentation with materials and production processes. The base can be separated from the hexagonal body, allowing the basket to fold onto itself for optimized transport and storage. This flat-pack solution reduces environmental impact while emphasizing functionality and efficiency.

Lightweight yet structured, Sicilia Cardboard embodies a rational and sustainable approach to everyday design.
