The Cobra table lamp was designed by Elio Martinelli in black and white. The “Dots” project creates a design that unites these two options. A pattern of black dots starts from the top, becoming progressively larger towards the base along the entire spherical body of the lamp, yielding a gradual passage from white to black. This pattern con-fers a contemporary style to the original design and a visual added value, since Cobra “Dots” gradually dissolves in the ambience. Additionally, the points pattern is a “clin d’oeil” to Pop art and to the Optical Movement of the 1960s, the period in which the lamp was created.
SWIVEL TABLE LAMP, DIRECT LIGHT. CONSISTING OF TWO PRINTED BODIES MADE OF RESIN. THE LOWER BODY ROTATES ON THE STEEL MADE BASE BELOW AND IS CONNECTED TO THE UPPER BODY BY MEANS OF A CENTRAL JOINT THAT ALLOWS THE 360° ROTATION. INSIDE REFLECTOR MADE OF WHITE PAINTED ALUMINIUM. DESIGNED BY ELIO MARTINELLI IN 1968, COBRA IS ONE OF THE FIRST LIGHTING FIXTURES PRODUCED WITH A SPECIAL RESIN MOLDING SYSTEM. THE LAMP IS CHARACTERIZED BY SIMPLE LINES AND A GEOMETRIC SHAPE INSCRIBED IN A SPHERE, BUT, WITH THE ROTATION OF THE ARM, THE REFLECTOR TAKES A POSITION THAT RECALLS THE HEAD OF A COBRA READY TO SHOOT.
