Tunsgram is based in Hungary, and is known for its light bulbs and electronics. Founded in Újpest (now part of Budapest) in 1896, it initially produced telephones, electrical cables and switchboards. The name "Tungsram" is a fusion of two common names of the metal used to make the filaments of light bulbs (tungsten and wolfram). In 1945 the company was the third largest producer of light bulbs in the world.
